History

History

A lady entered amidst our shouts
Come on now..guess the whereabouts
The class had indeed just begun
But all thought trains had embarked on the run
To the antique vistas of varied nations
Of battles,sieges,treaties and rations
Right you are! It is History
Where how not to dream is a mystery
I wonder if passionate speeches contain
A remedy for worldly seething pains
The breeze from the lush green trees outside
Makes us sway slightly from side to side
Some sound sleep master atop their desk
Studious some stay attentive and statuesque
Timelines etched on parchment now afloat
The serious lecture from her parched throat
Seems suspiciously like familiar war song
But I'm doubtlessly sure-I won't stay awake for long.
